My journey reads like a modern-day fairytale. As a single mother juggling two jobs while raising three kids, meeting my husband in 2013 through a dating app seemed like fate. He was a genuinely kind soul, a refreshing change after my previous dating mishaps. Aware of my past mistakes, I prayed for clarity and signs to ensure he was the one, and in various ways, God answered my prayers. Initially, our connection was simply as friends. There was no pressure, just a shared enjoyment of each other's company. About six months into our casual hangouts, he received orders for deployment. I then learned he was an Active Duty Air Force Fire Fighter. Being unexpectedly drawn to my best friend, who was about to leave the country, posed a dilemma. I wasn't prepared to become a military wife, yet love had other plans. I expressed my feelings in a vulnerable moment before his departure, understanding his reluctance due to his recent complex relationship. We navigated through his deployment together. Then, during another deployment in 2017, he was reassigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base and insisted he didn't want to leave North Carolina without me and the kids. So, we took a leap of faith, packed our lives, and moved to Texas to be with him, marking the first time we lived together. He reassured me, saying he'd send me back home if I didn't like it, but we made it through a year in Texas. In July 2018, he proposed, and in November of that same year, we exchanged vows. For those who doubt whether marriage is an option due to being a parent or facing past failed relationships, I'm living proof that you can find love again. It's possible to embrace love, joy, and happiness while managing your career and supporting your partner. My husband never pressured me to conform to an Air Force lifestyle; he only asked for love and support. To anyone seeking a similar love story, rest assured, it's attainable—your 'Boaz' is out there, waiting for you to cross paths.

Share an example of your leadership experience within the military community:
As a Key Spouse and assisted as a resiliency training assistant, primarily focusing on welcoming new airmen. Recognizing the challenges of transitioning to a new base, I initiated a program providing thoughtful gift baskets to incoming airmen. These baskets go beyond traditional welcome tokens; they're carefully curated with essential items aiding their adjustment to Minot AFB life. Collaborating with local businesses and community members, I included vouchers or discounts, encouraging newcomers to explore beyond the base. These gift baskets symbolize our united support and signify that these newcomers are integral to a closely-knit family, aiming to alleviate the stress of relocating. Through this initiative and my roles as a Key Spouse and in resiliency training, I aim to foster belonging and solidarity among airmen. I strive to facilitate their seamless integration into the Minot AFB community, promoting resilience and camaraderie within our military families.

Describe your involvement in the military community:
As a Key Spouse and Resilience Training Assistant, I've fostered unity and resilience within our military unit. As a Key Spouse, I've offered unwavering support by providing vital information and creating a sense of community. Engaging with families, I've bridged communication gaps and guided them to resources on base and in the local community, ensuring they feel supported during challenging times. Beyond the military, I've supported a ministry, conducting Bible studies to nurture spiritual growth and provide a space for faith exploration. Moreover, I've actively advocated for awareness during Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence months, aiming to raise awareness and create safe spaces for survivors. Additionally, I've established an active Facebook ministry, sharing resources, offering encouragement, and facilitating discussions on faith, resilience, and mental well-being. This online outreach connects with a broader audience, fostering support and community.

Describe how you support your community:
I dedicate myself to uplifting my community by regularly sharing inspirations on my Ministry and Author pages, offering encouragement, motivation, and spiritual insights to those seeking inspiration. Moreover, I've authored a recent book delving into the journey of overcoming Domestic Violence and Childhood Sexual Assault. Additionally, I invest time in nurturing individuals within the community. I aim to teach at the First-Term Airmen Center (FTAC) and lead weekly Bible study sessions in collaboration with another ministry to impart knowledge, foster spiritual growth, and create a supportive environment for learning and introspection. My commitment to community support is diverse, spanning various online platforms for inspiration, sharing personal narratives through literature, and actively engaging in educational and spiritual activities. This comprehensive approach significantly contributes to the well-being and growth of those around me.

What do you advocate for? Why?
My advocacy for Childhood Sexual Assault survivors is grounded in the firm belief that no child should undergo such distressing trauma. Having personally experienced this painful journey, I aim to amplify the voices of those who feel silenced, offering them hope and empowerment as they navigate their path toward healing. Similarly, my dedication to combating Domestic Violence is driven by the unwavering belief that no individual should endure the agony of daily physical or verbal abuse. Reflecting on my past, I strive to raise awareness, provide essential resources, and offer steadfast support to those confronting such distressing circumstances, having possibly missed signs of abuse in the past. My dedication to advocacy work stems from my struggles and a sincere desire to be an advocate. I aim to empower individuals to cultivate resiliency in the face of any adversity.

How have you spread the message of your platform/advocacy?
I've amplified the reach of my message by launching my book and leveraging Facebook as a platform to inform and advocate for my cause. Through this book release and active engagement on Facebook, I've worked diligently to share my story and raise awareness about the issues I'm passionate about advocating for. These efforts have allowed me to connect with a broader audience, sparking conversations and shedding light on the importance of my advocacy work.
