Share your military spouse story:
I became a military spouse after being a single mother of 3 for several years. At the time we were stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During our time there, I really learned how important our military and their families are to our great nation. I was able to support and lead by becoming the Army Family Readiness Group leader of my husbands company. Our military community endured one of the hardest deployments, where we lost quite a few amazing soldiers. Through this experience, I knew my calling would always be to support, advocate and educate the military community. When arriving to Fort Belvoir, Virginia in the summer of 2020, I met an amazing group of service members and spouses who advocate for safe military housing on-base. I knew once again that I was being called to help do what I love, support and advocate for our Service Members and families. Military life is hard enough without having to worry about substandard living conditions. I’m honored to be a part of such amazing organizations, both on my Real Estate Team and the BHAG here on Fort Belvoir, while still being able to support my husband and his mission.

Share an example of your leadership experience within the military community:
In 2019-2020 I was the FRG Leader of my husband’s company. During that time we went through a rough deployment where I was able to not only be there for the families within the company but also help keep the morale overseas up. Since then, I have been an advocate for safe housing for all military families on and off post. I contributed and brought awareness during sensing sessions conducted by the Army Inspector General at Fort Belvoir. Through various organizations, I have and continue to advocate, protect and educate military families on the importance of safe housing and generational wealth.

Describe your involvement in the military community:
I’m a Realtor and Advocate here in Northern Virginia. My everyday is spent advocating for and educating the military community on safe housing and generational wealth. I am passionate about helping families, and providing them with resources or tools they need to make the most informed decisions, often during challenging times.

Describe how you support your community:
As an advocate for safe military housing and a Realtor, I inform service members and families of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative Tenant Bill of Rights and other state laws. I help and educate other military families on how to advocate for safe living conditions both on and off post. As a team of military spouses, our mission is to always be able to help no matter where the military may send us 😊

What do you advocate for? Why?
I advocate for safe housing on and off post, and for service members looking to purchase a home in an area that is not VA loan friendly.

How have you spread the message of your platform/advocacy?
Through social media and events I organize locally in the community to build lasting relationships.

What do you hope to accomplish with the AFI Military Spouse of the Year® title?
I hope to bring more awareness to the ongoing concerns in military housing and the importance of safe housing for all Service members on and off post. Through this work, I hope to inspire others to contribute and to teach families how to advocate for themselves.
