Community Celebrates Military Marriages with Special Event

FORT LEAVENWORTH, KS (AUGUST 7, 2020) - Wedding and event specialist and the 2020 Armed Forces Insurance Air Force Spouse of the Year Bree Carroll, along with co-sponsors First Command and Armed Forces Insurance (AFI), will virtually bring the military community together with a series of live events focusing on celebrating military marriage, August 7-14, 2020.

The recent Blue Star Families Military Family Lifestyle Survey reports that "Time away from family" is holding steady as the top issue among active duty service members, spouses, and veterans. The report also indicates that marital and relationship issues are among the Top 10 Stressors impacting the military families with higher margins for the veteran population.

Bree, with a background in civil engineering, brings her brilliance of problem-solving and eye for design to couples so they can create a marriage even more beautiful than their wedding day. Using her method, Marriage Bridge Blueprint, she guides couples through designing a marriage that celebrates their core values. As a leader in the milspouse community, Bree celebrates and uplifts healthy military marriages. On her nationally broadcasted podcast, Hearts & Stripes, she speaks on the power of healthy relationships.

"MFAN statistics suggest that the top effects of military life on marriages, according to active-duty couples, were obstacles: stress and strain, specific difficulties, and weathering separations and absences," said Bree. "The designated Military Marriage Day is August 14. This special event is to serve as a means to help curb those issues as well as curate ideas on how to help our military marriages sustain."

This partnered party with a purpose will create opportunities for couples to connect through engaging activities, grow the marriage relationship through resource sharing and education as well as build a legacy of thriving relationships—all which allow our armed forces to flourish.

The celebration will kick off August 7, 2020, with a virtual highlight of the holiday's purpose and statement of support by Air Force leadership. Throughout the week, other live streams will include collaborations with Moving with the Military, veteran Chef Nina G., and Happily Jointed, InDependent, and Lifegiver. The event culminates with a holiday finale, Military Marriage Day, on August 14, 2020, that will showcase musical tributes from notable artists and storytelling by influential military couples and Taya Kyle, author, political commentator, and military veteran's family activist.

"As an event sponsor, we at AFI believe in a strong commitment to giving back to the military," said Lori Simmons, chief marketing officer. "Whether it is the AFI Military Spouse of the Year® Award or the Military

Warriors Support Foundation and now with the week-long festivities leading up to Military Marriage Day, we, through a level of services unmatched in the industry, recognize the need to celebrate and support our military families."

“First Command is proud to support the launch of the inaugural Military Marriage Day,” said Kellie Richter, First Command’s chief marketing and client experience officer. “As financial coaches serving our Nation’s military families, we have long recognized that service members and spouses who are deeply committed to each other are best positioned to pursue lifelong financial security for themselves and their families. We congratulate Bree Carroll on her initiative to celebrate and strengthen the marriages of the men and women who serve our country.
